Wiky woman wins NAMMY

Lena Recollet picked up the Best Spoken Word Recording at the 14th Annual Native American Music Awards on May 12.  A singer and spoken word poet, visual artist and public speaker, Recollet is a citizen of Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve. Her NAMMY-award winning album, I Am Woman. Kwe is the follow-up to her first solo EP, Soul Speaking, Giigidaa.

“It was the ultimate Mother’s Day gift for my Mom when I won Best Spoken Word Recording,” she said.
