WINNIPEG – Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is hosting live events from Winnipeg and Iqaluit on Saturday, June 22, in what is billed as Canada’s largest celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

Her debut album Dawn of a New Day, released in 2008, was Billboard’s highest charting album by an Aboriginal musician in history. In 2009, she was named the Canadian Country Music Association’s Female Artist of the Year. Last year, she released her latest album Just Like You.

Other Winnipeg stage performers include George Leach, a Tribe Called Red, and Tanya Tagaq, while Susan Aglukark and Leela Gilday are among the featured artists in Iqaluit.

Hosts for the Winnipeg concert include Michelle Thrush, star of the APTN hit series Blackstone and Derek Miller, Juno Award-winning, hillbilly Mohawk rocker. Don Kelly, star of the APTN hit series Fish Out of Water will host the main stage performance in Iqaluit, alongside co-host Madeleine Allakariallak.
