Art honours fallen warriors

art‘Honoring the Spirit of Chief Wabighijack’ is a recently-completed painting by Zoey Wood-Solomon. The acrylic-on-paper work, measuring 26X32 inches, depicts a young Chief and his wife offering a Spirit Plate for Chief Wabighijack (White Crane) at Niagara-on-the-Lake in remembrance of the Anishinabek who died during the War of 1812. Chief Wabighijack’s spirit is ever present, as seen by the White Crane that walks the grounds. Chief Wabighijack of Batchewana, died at Fort George in 1813. The artist lives in Sault Ste.
