GARDEN RIVER FN – New life was brought to Charles Point on June 14 by the Garden River Ontario Native Women’s Association.

The local Anishinaabekwek of the North Shore purchased 1200 pine trees from the Thessalon First Nation nursery and partnered with a Sault Ste. Marie Scout group to plant them.

Along with their parents, over 20 boys and girls participated.  Forester Dennis Jones welcomed Neil McLean and his Scout group and thanked them for partnering with ONWA to green the grounds.

Early arrivals reported seeing two eagles resting in the trees – the miigizi will now have more to perch on.
