Thessalon First Nation to give tours of Bio Centre

THESSALON FIRST NATION (August 18, 2016) – Thessalon First Nation invites everyone to its Bio Centre Showcase.

 Chief Alfred Bisaillon says that the Bio Centre is fascinating and that he welcomes everyone to hear about it during a tour.

“Thessalon First Nation Bio Centre has the potential to be developed with the right partnerships,” says Chief Bisaillon.  “Economic viability and sustainability for our Bio Centre has always been our goal.”

The Bio Centre is a unique resource for economic development in Thessalon First Nation.  Currently the community is exploring ways of operating the facility to its fullest potential, including a possible venture into organic produce among other products.

WHAT:  Bio Centre Showcase

WHEN: Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 1-7pm

WHERE: Thessalon First Nation Bio Centre, 219 McCreights Road off Highway 129 approximately 10 km north of the town of Thessalon in the Municipality of Huron Shores.

WHO:  Thessalon members, potential partners, investors, funders and vendors.

Thessalon First Nation acquired the tree surgery in 2000, which was previously owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Today, the Bio Centre has the capacity to produce elite plants and trees using cutting edge technologies and can house several agricultural ventures simultaneously. Some modern equipment and facilities include, a 6000 square foot refrigeration building, 17 climate controlled greenhouse 100 acres of arable fields, access to organically certified facilities, and on-site biological lab just to name a few.
