Anishinaabe kwoek show support for Standing Rock

submissionSubmitted by Sue Chiblow

Anishinaabe kwoek organized a “Water Awareness Walk” in Baawaating territory known as Sault Ste. Marie on Oct 7, 2016, to increase awareness of the importance of water and to show our support for the peoples at Standing Rock.

Our Elders have stated that water is life and we need to stop all poisoning of the lands and waters immediately. The women sang the Nibi song and all made a sema offering to the waters. The Anishinaabe kwoek want to say Miigwetch to the Indian Friendship Centre for assisting with the event and providing great food.
