Simpson’s first album, the critically acclaimed Breakwall, has received extensive radio play. Her sophomore album, She Fell From the Sky, a modern retelling of the traditional Anishinaabe story of Sky Woman, is set for release in 2020. Simpson has been awarded the Imaginative/Slaight Bullseye Award in 2017. In 2018, she won Best New Artist at the Indigenous Music Awards. She tours widely as a solo performer, with her own band, and as part of the backing group for scholar, poet and performer Leanne Betasamosake Simpson.

The Visiting Artist Series will feature artists who will offer student workshops culminating in a public exhibition of their work. During Ansley’s week at Sault College, March 10-13, she will conduct student workshops in songwriting and in creative approaches to managing anxiety, as well as perform a free concert.

The series is intended to demonstrate practical, life-enhancing applications for creative expression by encouraging dialogue between professional artists and people interested in the arts.
