Anishinabek will continue to assert jurisdiction, advance priorities

ANISHINABEK NATION HEAD OFFICE (June 8, 2018)— Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief Glen Hare says that yesterday’s Ontario election result will make First Nations stronger together.

“We are still asserting our jurisdiction over child well-being, education and health transformation,” says Grand Council Chief Hare.

Hare says that with a united Anishinabek Nation, which consists of 40 First Nations in Ontario, we can continue to advance on initiatives already in progress.

“With news of the newly-elected Progressive Conservative provincial government, the Anishinabek Nation remains determined and hopeful,” says Hare.

The Anishinabek Nation will hold the PC government accountable for the promises it has based its election platform on, will seek collaborative discussion on the meaningful involvement of First Nations with natural resources and resource revenue sharing opportunities.

“We seek to continue building upon the progress attained through existing government-to-government relationship bilateral forums,” says Hare.
