First Nations Health Managers Association launches Season 5 of weekly virtual Town Halls

APTN to once again rebroadcast series across Turtle Island

OTTAWA (January 28, 2022) – The First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) has launched the fifth season of its popular virtual Town Hall series. Episode 1 aired live on January 25, 2022, and focused on the latest news and information related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Omicron variant.

Season 5 will consist of 12 episodes and feature FNHMA CEO Marion Crowe as host. Episodes will air live on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. EST at ihtoday.ca/townhall. Viewers can join the conversation and submit questions to the expert panels by e-mailing fnhma@ihtoday.ca.

“By continuing to provide timely, credible and culturally-appropriate information for First Nations, we can continue to address concerns while sharing key lessons learned from communities on the ground actively dealing with the pandemic,” said FNHMA CEO Marion Crowe.

The weekly virtual Town Halls are produced by NationTalk.

New for Season 5

Following the first three episodes— which will focus on COVID-19, mental health and addictions —the series will expand the conversation by exploring a range of health issues including health promotion, prevention, treatment and management. By moving the conversation beyond the pandemic, the nine additional Town Halls will aim to improve awareness, challenge assumptions and change norms in healthcare for Indigenous nations across Turtle Island.

“I am honoured to continue hosting this initiative aimed at creating open, credible dialogue on the health issues that impact our communities. By taking such concrete actions, together, we can help to ensure the health of our nations for generations to come,” stated Marion Crowe.

To watch the weekly FNHMA Town Halls online, visit ihtoday.ca/townhall on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. EST or tune into APTN for the rebroadcast on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. EST (check local listings). The series will run for 12 weeks on APTN beginning January 29, 2022. Each episode will be archived and available at ihtoday.ca/townhall after airing on APTN.
