Human Resources Coordinator

Location: Negotiable depending on candidate suitability, however, it is preferred that this position work out of Head Office in Nipissing First Nation

 Full Time Position with Benefits

(after successfully completing 3 months of employment)

Salary Range: $62,373 to $70,690

Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Coordinator will provide support in the administration and execution of Human Resources Department activities and functions. This position handles administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, promoting initiatives, organizing recruitment efforts and employee relations, as prescribed under the Human Resources Policies and procedures of the Union of Ontario Indians.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree, Diploma or certificate in Human Resources or Business Administration;
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a Human Resources role;
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (preferably InfoHR);
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources procedures and practices, legislative provisions regarding recruitment, employment equity, compensation, and health and safety required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant computer systems, programs and software) and able to learn new technologies; and
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and be insurable.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
  • Adaptable with a quick learning capability;
  • Able to set priorities, take initiative and work with little direction; and,
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin or willingness to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide coordination support to the Human Resources Director;
  • Assisting in the full recruitment cycle including; posting and management of job advertisements, preparing screening packages, interviews schedules and reference checks;
  • Prepare onboarding information for new employees, including new hire documents, and mandatory training;
  • Preparing materials for performance reviews: assisting with performance management tracking and schedules;
  • Responding to internal and external human resources related inquiries or requests;
  • Coordinating training sessions with program directors and employees;
  • Preparing updates as required to relevant policies, directives, guides, and forms;
  • Coordinating Human Resources projects and initiatives to support work plans;
  • Providing general administrative support such as coordinating meetings, note-taking, filing, drafting and reviewing correspondence and contracts;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Responding to inquiries, providing training and support on the system’s functionalities and features;
  • Assisting with the maintenance and updating of the HRIS as required;
  • Collecting personnel information for staff and maintaining confidential personnel files to ensure all documentation is on file according to policy and procedures;
  • Compiling and preparing reports and documents relating to personnel activities as requested;
  • Providing administrative support to the Joint Health & Safety Committee, including taking minutes, and file management; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
