JORDAN’S PRINCIPLE PAYMENT ASSISTANT

LOCATION: Negotiable depending on candidate suitability, however, it is preferred that this position work out of Head Office in Nipissing First Nation

Full Time Position with Benefits

 (after successfully completing 3 months of employment)

Salary Range: $50,055 to $56,729

The Jordan’s Principle (JP) Payment Assistant is responsible for coordinating payments to parents/guardians and service providers on behalf of the JP Program Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), liaising with First Nation applicants, and ensuring accuracy in funding processes, data collection and reporting.  The JP Payment Assistant will report to the Health Director and keep in communication with JP Navigators and the Federal Health Policy Analyst regarding the program and any issues that may arise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years-experience in an administrative assistant capacity;
  • College diploma in Business Administration;
  • A Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant computer systems, programs and software) and able to learn new technologies and tools; and
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and be insurable.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Exhibit professional attitudes and behavior; and
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin or willingness to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing approved Jordan’s Principle applications for payments, ensuring they have received approval from ISC and there is no duplication;
  • Keeping JP budgets updated;
  • Maintaining an accurate database of JP requests and payments.
  • Preparing and submitting funder reports on an ongoing basis and in consultation with organizational leadership and the finance department;
  • Regularly reporting to the Health Director on the JP budget status and identifying any potential shortfalls;
  • Assisting the JP Navigators with program materials, planning as requested;
  • Working with the Finance Department and providing assistance as required; and
  • Other duties as required
