Decision 2015 – APTN National News announces a series of special federal election broadcasts
October 1, 2015, Winnipeg, Manitoba – APTN National News, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network’s (APTN) daily news and current affairs program, announced today it will host a series of specials and live streams as part of its Decision 2015 federal election coverage. Viewers across the nation are invited to tune in for virtual town halls with party leaders, a special French panel discussion and live coverage on election night.
In an ongoing effort to bring programming that matters to Aboriginal Peoples, and offer Canadian citizens a different perspective on current affairs, APTN National News has been in the field covering the federal election each step of the way. With less than three weeks of campaigning left and no clear leader in the race, the APTN news team is shifting into high gear to help viewers make an informed decision before heading to the polls on October 19.

VIRTUAL TOWN HALLS WITH PARTY LEADERS
If you could ask any party leader a question, what would you ask them? APTN National News has collected questions from First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada – activists, politicians, grassroots, Elders and youth. Join host Cheryl McKenzie, over the course of three, one-hour specials, as she presents these questions on key issues that impact Aboriginal Peoples to party leaders*.

FRENCH CANDIDATES PANEL DISCUSSION
What issues are most important to the French-speaking Aboriginal Peoples in this federal election? Long-standing APTN National News journalist Danielle Rochette hosts a French-candidates and analysts panel discussion to find out. In this 30-minute special, community leaders, activists, and the general public are invited to share their questions and concerns on the subject of poverty, overpopulation, territorial dispute and more in Aboriginal communities.

LIVE ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE
APTN National News will broadcast live as the longest federal election campaign in recent history comes to a close. Follow the real-time election results on APTN and online as voters across the country decide if they will re-elect the Harper government or if they will chose to elect a new leader. Cheryl McKenzie and Michael Hutchinson will co-host from APTN headquarters in Winnipeg and Nigel Newlove will join them from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Reporters will be live on location, with up-to-the-minute updates from various campaign offices across the country.
