Chiefs to confront federal government on lack of progress in standards of living

Chiefs of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians met with critics, ministers, and representatives in Ottawa.

LONDON, ON (Jan 25, 2018) – On January 29th the Chiefs of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians will be meeting with critics, ministers, and representatives in Ottawa.  The goal in these meetings is to drive forward the issues that plague Indigenous communities thereby working with the government to implement solutions and tackle any future problems.

A wide range of issues will be brought to the attention of those on Parliament Hill with the hope that together a satisfactory result can occur.  By being face to face with the Federal government the Chiefs will be presenting facts and information that has been gathered for this meeting.  Along with this information are realistic solutions, with the proper support, can be pushed forward to help First Nations people.  It is the hope that together we can work with Parliament to bring about a brighter solution that will bury the problems that many must face on a daily basis.  One such solution is an increase in capital to vital areas that can help improve the quality of life to many Indigenous communities.  Focusing on the needs of the infrastructure in health, and water alone can be of immense value and assist in eliminating problems in other areas.

The chiefs will arrive in Ottawa next week to seek answers but more importantly press upon the Federal Government to act upon the urgency within these issues immediately.  By doing this it will be a step closer to reconciliation and closer that we have ever been before.

A.I.A.I. and its Chiefs will be holding a press conference in Ottawa at the Charles-Lynch Press room on Monday at 10am to make an announcement on further plans to approach the federal government on a solution for the concerns presented at the lobby.  Press and Media are welcome to attend, please contact Ira Timothy, the Communications Coordinator, and information packages will be made available to the media.
