Anishinabek officers honoured
OTTAWA –Two Anishinabek members of the Ontario Provincial Police Aboriginal Policing Bureau have been appointed to the Order of Merit of the Police Forces. In recognition of their exceptional service and performance of duty, Superintendent Susanne Decock and Sergeant George Couchie were awarded the Order of Merit by the Governor General of Canada at a May 24 ceremony at Rideau Hall.
The award recognizes exemplary police service, as well as a high degree of community commitment. Superintendent Decock, a citizen of Alderville First Nation, was recognized for her volunteer work as an executive member of the Children’s Aid Society of Simcoe County.
Sgt. Couchie, Nipissing First Nation, was similarly recognized for his exemplary police service, and volunteer efforts within his own community.
