How about Tecumseh Day?
A Niagara Falls man has launched a petition to redesignate Victoria Day as Tecumseh-Norton-Brant Day.
“Its purpose is to honour all the First Peoples who fought under the command of these great men alongside the British to stop the American invaders during the War of 1812,” says Greg Baynes, who has notified all Members of Parliament and Senators about his proposal. “It would commemorate an important historical event in the days before Canada was born that were vital to its formation, solidify recognition of the role played by the First Peoples who sacrificed their lives to help make it happen.”
