Kinoomaadziwin Education Body welcomes new Director of Education

NIPISSING FIRST NATION (June 3, 2021) – The Kinoomaadziwin Education Body (KEB) is pleased to announce Christine Dokis (Restoule) as the new Director of Education for the organization who began this role on May 3, 2021.  Christine has been part of the KEB team for one month and is settling into the role with ease and energy.

As the Director of Education, Christine will lead the KEB’s day-to-day administration and will be responsible for working with the Board of Directors to implement the Anishinabek Education System’s strategic priorities. She will serve as the main public contact and spokesperson for the organization and will represent the KEB in all professional capacities.

Christine is a member of Dokis First Nation and a life-long learner who is currently completing her MBA with Athabasca University.  She also holds a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Christine has been fortunate to work for Dokis and other First Nations in roles such as Education Director, Band Manager, and Health Director.

With more than 15 years in the child welfare field, Christine has acquired significant administrative skills which will serve her well in her new role. She has also expanded her professional experience as a professor at Georgian College, where she gained a valuable understanding of learners’ perspectives.

Christine is the proud mother of four busy teens and young adults, and she has two fur babies that she loves spending her free time with. She is looking forward to working with everyone to further the educational success of our Anishinaabe students.

As the Director of Education for the KEB, a focus of Christine’s role over the next few months will consist largely of relationship-building with the Participating First Nations and key stakeholders of the Anishinabek Education System.  The KEB’s Board of Directors looks forward to introducing Christine to the leadership of the Anishinabek Education System at its Annual General Meeting on June 23, 2021.

The Kinoomaadziwin Education Body (KEB) is the central administrative structure for the Anishinabek Education System.  The organization is lead by a 13-member Board of Directors and takes direction from the Participating First Nations. The KEB supports the implementation of educational priorities and manages education relationships with Canada and Ontario.
