FASD Program Worker- Lake Huron Region 

LOCATION: Anishinabek Nation Head Office, Nipissing First Nation OR Sudbury Satellite Office 

One Year Contract Position, (with possibly of extension) and Benefits  

 (after successfully completing 3 months of employment) 

Salary Range: $59,811.44 to $67,786.28 

 

Reporting to the FASD Manager, the FASD Program Worker is responsible for the overall implementation of the FASD Program in their respective area of the Anishinabek Nation territory.  They will assist with the development of ongoing, culturally appropriate and community-based resources, assist with capacity building at the community level, and ensure advocacy for all aspects of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder on First Nations. They will fulfill all responsibilities while working within policy parameters and administrative guidelines of the Union of Ontario Indians  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with families, communities, or individuals with living experience of FASD or other neurodivergence.  
  • Degree or Diploma in the Health, Social or Humanities Field; 
  • Working knowledge of the organization and services; 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant programs and software, with the ability to learn new technologies and tools; and  
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, be insurable under the organization’s vehicle insurance policy and be willing and able to travel regularly for work-related events, meeting and other duties as required.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and support events and outreach activities; 
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms for communication and outreach; 
  • Ability to navigate office environments and use standard office equipment; and 
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin, or willingness to learn. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Planning, developing and implementing resources and capacity building events; 
  • Responsible for engaging the First Nation Communities, and advocating for community needs; and support the FASD team and the Health Secretariat; 
  • Assisting the FASD Program in planning conferences, and events; 
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to event facilitation, purchases and travel requests; 
  • Coordinating meetings, events and workshops with the First Nation communities; 
  • Attending in-person meetings (assemblies, conferences, etc.) and providing real-time support to the FASD Manager, Health Director, and Leadership; 
  • Willing to travel regularly for work-related events, meetings, and other duties as required.  Which may include spending a few nights a month out of town; and 
  • Working irregular hours when required to facilitate workshops and events.
