Child Well-Being Implementation Manager 

WORKSITE LOCATION: On-site at the Union of Ontario Indians Head Office (Nipissing First Nation) 

 

Full-time Position with Benefits, including a defined contribution pension plan starting day one and employer-paid group insurance following three months of employment, in accordance with plan terms.

Salary Range$78,314 to $88,756 

 

In close collaboration with the Negotiations Team, the Child Well-Being Implementation Manager will identify key objectives and lead initiatives to support establishing the Anishinabek Child Well-Being system. Reporting to the Director of Social Development and Koganaawsawin, the Child Well-Being Implementation Manager will coordinate internal child and family services team meetings, ensure consistency and alignment with the Anishinabek Nation Child Well-Being Law, and support cohesive communications and strategy development. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with external partners, maintaining accountability to Anishinabek leadership, and ensuring that all activities uphold the long-term objectives of the Anishinabek First Nations.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies or a related field; 
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in Child Well-Being, child and family services, social services, or a related field; 
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff, including all aspects of human resources supervision and support;  
  • Experience managing budgets, including planning, monitoring, and reporting;  
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring workplans, timelines, and deliverables; 
  • Working knowledge of child well-being legislation, policies, and frameworks, including Indigenous-based programs; 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant programs and software, with the ability to learn new technologies and tools; and  
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and insurable under the organization’s vehicle insurance policy, and be willing and able to travel regularly for work-related events, meetings, and other duties as required.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement child wellbeing initiatives using structured workplans, timelines, and deliverables; 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community members, leadership and partners; 
  • Ability to analyze child wellbeing legislation, policies, and agreements and translate them into practical implementation actions; 
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion and confidentiality in all situations; 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines; 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work; 
  • Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving abilities; 
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and support events and outreach activities; 
  • Ability to support budget development, tracking, reporting, and funding accountability requirements; and 
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin, or willingness to learn. 

  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Anishinabek Child Well-Being System, including planning, stakeholder coordination, reporting, and operational oversight;  
  • Collaborate with the Director, Finance Coordinator, and Social Development/Koganaawsawin Manager to manage child well-being implementation program budgets and ensure timely financial and activity reporting;  
  • Attend scheduled negotiations and operations meetings;  
  • Coordinate across teams and with external stakeholders (e.g., Child Well-Being Working Group, Anishinabek Chiefs-in-Assembly, Anishinabek Children’s Commissioner, and Koganaawsawin Board of Directors) to ensure alignment and smooth operations;  
  • Collaborate on the joint workplan with the Negotiations Team and the Governments of Canada and Ontario, and ensure reporting activities and tracking charts are completed and shared with the Anishinabek Nation;  
  • Draft funding proposals to secure resources for project activities and other initiatives approved by the Director;  
  • Develop implementation plans, including project scope, tracking, timelines, goals, and deliverables;  
  • Implement projects approved by the Director;  
  • Supervise assigned staff, including all aspects of human resources supervision and support;  
  • Provide recommendations and support to the Director, committees/councils, Political Office, and Executive Director;  
  • Monitor, report on, and present the progress of implementation activities to stakeholders;  
  • Identify implementation challenges and recommend solutions;  
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs and deliverables; and  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
