WORKSITE LOCATION: Fort William First Nation Satellite Office OR Thunder Bay Satellite Office
Contract position to April 30, 2027, with benefits, including a defined contribution pension plan starting day one and employer-paid group insurance following three months of employment, in accordance with plan terms.

The Tourism Policy Analyst supports the implementation of Phase 2 of the Northern Superior Regional Tourism Strategy. Reporting to the Economic Development Department Manager and based in the Northern Superior region, this position works directly with Northern Superior member First Nations to build relationships, support community-driven tourism initiatives, and advance tourism planning, policy and strategy implementation, pilot initiatives, and community engagement.
The position supports the Economic Development Department by helping ensure tourism initiatives are community-informed, evidence-based, and aligned with Anishinabek Nation priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years’ experience in tourism development, community engagement, economic development, business development, project coordination, and or a related field;
- Demonstrated experience working directly with First Nation communities and partners, including building collaborative relationships, and supporting community-driven initiatives;
- Degree or Diploma in Public Policy, Tourism, Economic Development, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Geography, Planning, or a related field;
- Experience supporting regional tourism initiatives, policy development or strategy implementation, stakeholder coordination, and monitoring project or pilot outcomes;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Northern Superior region and its member First Nations, including an understanding of community priorities and regional economic development opportunities;
- Knowledge of tourism development initiatives, community planning, and government funding programs supporting economic development is considered an asset;
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and relevant programs and software, with the ability to learn new technologies and tools; and
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, be insurable under the organization’s vehicle insurance policy, and be willing and able to travel regularly for work-related events, meetings, and other duties as required.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Ability to prepare clear reports, briefing materials, presentations, meeting notes, and other documentation;
- Ability to plan, facilitate community engagement sessions, meetings, workshops, and outreach activities, including participation in community-based meetings and events throughout the Northern Superior region;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment;
- Sensitivity to First Nation governance, community protocols, and Indigenous tourism development approaches;
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities or work environments;
- Ability to navigate office environments and use standard office equipment; and
- Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin, or willingness to
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and support regional tourism planning, research, and implementation activities in support of Phase 2 of the Northern Superior Regional Tourism Strategy;
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Northern Superior member First Nations, partners, and stakeholders to support community-informed tourism development;
- Attend and facilitate community meetings, engagement sessions, and regional events to identify tourism opportunities, gather community input, and support implementation activities;
- Coordinate tourism projects and pilot initiatives and monitor progress, feedback, and outcomes to inform continuous improvement through ongoing collaboration with communities and partners;
- Support member First Nations in identifying, coordinating, and advancing tourism development opportunities and funding initiatives;
- Conduct research and analysis to identify regional tourism opportunities, emerging priorities, barriers, and best practices that support community-driven tourism development;
- Prepare reports, briefing materials, recommendations, and implementation updates for leadership;
- Support the implementation of the Northern Superior Regional Tourism Strategy by coordinating initiatives, assisting communities with funding readiness, and promoting the long-term sustainability of tourism projects;
- Represent the Anishinabek Nation in-person at assemblies, conferences, and intergovernmental meetings, providing real-time support to the Director and Leadership;
- Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with organizational standards, project requirements, and community protocols; and
